Andrés Montero is a Colombian composer and orchestrator based in Los Angeles, California. He graduated as a pianist with emphasis in composition and orchestration from the Conservatory of the National University in Bogotá, Colombia in 2010.
In 2012 he moved to Los Angeles and completed his graduate studies in Film Scoring at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Andrés later began working for one of the busiest conductors and orchestrators in Hollywood, Tim Davies. Some of the projects he has been involved with include The Book of Life (2014); Minions (2015); and Crimson Peak (2015). He has also done orchestrations for Tim Davies’ team on the films Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (2016), Antman and the Wasp (2018) and Hotel Transylvania 3 (2018).
In 2019, Andrés worked as an orchestrator with composer Anne-Kathrin Dern on the upcoming feature film, Sprite Sisters (recorded in Belgium) and the upcoming animated movie, Supercharged (recorded at Abbey Road in London). Their collaboration on Sprite Sisters was featured by Avid at The NAMM Show this year. During their presentation about creating music for films, Andrés and Anne shared information about their work flow and offered tips and tricks of the trade.
In addition to his work as an orchestrator, Andrés works in music preparation at JoAnn Kane Music Service, where he has contributed to a myriad of films and TV Shows.
He is a founding member of the Foundation Symphony Orchestra of Bogotá (FOSBO) where he has been working as a prolific arranger of Colombian and Latin music adapted to the symphony orchestra for the concert hall.
